Romance ‘N’ Rhythm

Since time immemorial, the romantic festival of mayday or the first of may has been an occasion of great joy around the world. With roots in Bacchanalian revelry and Fertility rites. It vividly enacts the marriage of spring and summer.

Traditionally, on this day, young people would go to the woods to gather greenery and make merry. This could be followed by the choosing of the May Queen.

All ceremonies concluded with dancing around the Maypole, Which was hung with multicolored ribbons. And as the revelers, often dressed as Robin Hood and his Maid Marian, danced to lilting music, the ribbons they held were woven into beautiful, intricate patterns with every step they took.

Sweet Notes

“Sure there is music even in the beauty and the silent note which cupid strikes, far sweeter than the sound of an instrument. Far there is an music wherever there is harmony, order or proportion, and thus far we May maintain the music of the spheres; for those well ordered motion, and regular paces though they give no sound unto the ear, yet to the understanding they strike a note most full of harmony”

“Religio Medici”- Sir Thomas Brown

“O fair! O Sweet!

When I do look on thee,

In whom all joys so well agree,

Heart and soul do sing in me,

Just accord all music make”.
